Description

The doctors shook their heads and said it was a tragedy but the other patients, watching quietly from their doorways, murmured that she had gone to a happier place.

Model: ~sarampage

Concept, photographer and MUA: Your host

Another from our trip up to Aradale Mental Asylum. Once again, this is in keeping with my over all concept for the trip: portraying what the patiences were seeing in their mind and making their fantasies and nightmares real.

Incidentally, this is the 80th image I had posted in the 'conceptual' gallery here on DA.

It was actually quite tricky to make ~sarampage look dead. She is one of those people who always look as if they are wearing makeup: she is just naturally gorgeous. Most of what I did to her was trying to remove the colour from her cheeks and lips. I (or ~sarampage) will post some more from the glamour half of this concept soon. They actually stand up really well on their own!

My show opened in the Adelaide Fringe last night. Go and check out =DalaiHarma's pimpage of it, including a photo from the performance. I was so, so happy with it and the response was really warm. Mind you, I'm not expecting fantastic things from the review. Adelaide reviewers do not have a reputation for understanding surrealist theatre and my show is pretty weird. But the audience seemed to love it, which was the main thing. Apparently after the show tonight, an older couple made the entire cast sign a poster for them! We also had people crying, I am told. I'm back in Victoria now. It is a scary thing to leave my baby to its own devises but a really good thing at the same time. Please go and check it out, if you are in SA in the next week: [link]

this picture, as well as the concept is beautiful.

Sarampage has a stunningly beautiful conception and hair colour, and this make-up make her look like some kind of extinguished fairy. The natural light gives a soft effect to the overall composition, and makes it look beautiful.

As to the meaning for the two pictures, well for me, the first one is the reality, the awful truth. She is dead, and a doctor comes to see what happened.

But for the second, it's the vision of the other patient, and her own. Being tortured for years by her insanity, she has finally escaped, she is gone...to that happier place.
