It is my birthday. I feel I should be all dressed up in my best wig and false eyelashes or something. I think I may do that later actually. I should really do some work though. Le sigh.


I really enjoyed this character, incidentally. Vlad pretty much left me to my own devices for this shoot. I found the character through the hands, by keeping them useless but doing small, futile actions, such as hooking my fingers into my toes or plucking at the nightgown. I also use breath a lot to get into a character. No photographer has ever mentioned it, but I tend to do some pretty freaky breathing whilst shooting. This character had shallow, sharp, fast breathes, reminiscent of hyper-ventilating, with a lot of soft, gasping noises. So, if you have ever wondered what it is like to work with me, it is... intense. Particularly if you give me a character like this and leave me to my own devices. That's what you get from hiring theatre people. So there.

Fortunately, I snap out of it mighty quick and, that day, was throwing in some random hip-hop dance moves to shake off this character in between memory cards.




Sorry I don't have a happier photo to post on the birthday. Running on short supply. I'm doing a lot of shoots but everyone is too busy to edit. Oh well! One day.
